I'm Ethan Rogers a detail-oriented and experienced UX/UI Designer finishing up my degree in Interaction Design from the University of Washington in June of 2022. I have received a substantial amount of real-world experiences through internships at Kimberly-Clark and Micro Focus International.
I grew up in Tacoma, WA. Growing up I played tons of baseball and was looking at playing somewhere in college and then I tore my UCL and was unable to throw after 2 surgeries. At that point I turned to art and music learning how to draw and play guitar and eventually found Design a couple years after that and instantly knew that's what I wanted to do the rest of my life.
My background spans UX wireframing for Web and Mobile, Visual Design for Web and Mobile, User Research, Illustration, Iconography, and Micro Interactions. From a tooling perspective, I am “expert” Figma user, and have advanced skills across the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. I have experience in Web and Development technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Java. I Love being involved in projects from the start to the finish and then maintenance activities that follow.
One of the most interesting parts of design for me is looking at user data and refactoring designs to improve. My current interests are in the area of mixed reality and finding creative ways to shift interactions from flat interfaces on a screen to interactions using mixed reality in a 3D space. There has yet to be an amazing example of interactions in 3D space and I would love to be at the forefront of innovation future interactions.
Outside of design I love to play play guitar, drums, bass, and piano. The first summer of covid I couldn't secure an internship, but still needed money. I learned how to build my own guitar pedals and I had already been building guitars for a year or so. I decided to turn that into a little business and sell them. To this day, my roommate and I are still building/selling pedals!
